Mumbai: The Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) on Friday announced its tie up with Google wherein commuters can now use Google Maps to check Metro timings and can even avail geographical information regarding the interior of all 12 Metro stations. The geographical information will help commuters to locate ticket counters, lifts, escalators and refreshment area inside any particular Metro station.

"Through the application, the trip timings of each Metro service operated by MMOPL is available now in the Google Maps app. Commuters can get information of the train services which operate at a frequency of four minutes in peak hours and eight minutes at non-peak hours. Trip timings correspond to services that are run on weekdays and weekends. The information will help commuters plan their journeys accordingly and reach their destinations faster and more comfortably," said MMOPL in a statement on Friday.

In order to view this information one needs to locate the desired Metro station in the Google Maps app and tap the "Metro Services" option. This will open up a departure board that will display the schedule of the next few Metro services from that station in either direction.

The Mumbai Metro-1 corridor is set to complete three years on June 8, 2017. It was commissioned in 2014 and is said to be one of the Metro corridor constructed in densely populated area of Versova-Andheri-Ghatkopar. The MMRDA, that executed the project along with MMOPL, are also in a legal battle with each other over increasing of fares for the Metro.
