Mumbai: Perhaps for a first time, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has appealed publicly to people to provide evidences on a mishap.

The civic body has put up advertisements in newspapers asking citizens to send their information and proofs on Kamala Mill Compound fire.

On December 29, 14 people had died in a major fire that broke out in two pubs — 1Above and Mojo’s Bristo – at the Kamala Mill Compound in Lower Parel.

Municipal commissioner Ajoy Mehta is holding an enquiry into the incident.

In order to assist the enquiry proceedings, it is to take evidence and put on record any other relevant material, record direct evidence of witnesses to the fire incident, relatives of the deceased persons, persons injured in the fire, people working in the area or anyone who is related with this fire incident.

“All concerned and related to this incident can share any information, photos and videos. They can submit their say orally to the municipal commissioner on January 8 at 2.30 pm onwards at the municipal commissioner’s office in BMC headquarters. They can also submit their submissions, upload photos, videos, any other relevant information in case they do not want to depose personally on mc.enquiry.kamala@gmail.com or can contact on 22620525 or taking appointment of municipal commissioner,” said the official.

Police have arrested two persons — Kevin Bava and Lisbon Lopez — both managers of 1Above, in connection with the fire incident.
