Mumbai: A Scorpio car dashed into a police van stationed near Mafatlal swimming pool in Grant Road on Monday night. At the time of the collision, two policemen attached to the Marine Drive police station were sitting in the van. The two men, the driver and his friend sitting on the front seat, have sustained injuries while the policemen escaped unhurt. They have been booked under sections of the IPC that pertains to rash driving.

Marine Drive police station officials said that while the two police officers were sitting in the van, they heard a thud and felt a slight jolt. When they came out, they found that the Scorpio car was crushed in the incident and the two men inside the car had sustained injuries. The police officials immediately rushed the two men to the civic-run G.T. Hospital in South Mumbai and alerted the police team about the accident.

While the two men were being taken to the hospital, a team of officials reached the spot and noted that although the car was crushed, the police van only bore a small dent. While checking the car, the police officials found a cigarette packet and three number plates in it. No alcohol was found in the vehicle.

The police said, “The two men in the car are being treated for their injuries. They have been booked under the relevant sections of the IPC.”
