Mumbai: Actor Akshay Kumar showcased his active participation in social matters yet again when he suggested that toilet booths should be constructed on the lines of old STD and ISD booths. Mr Kumar gave this suggestion to chief minister Devendra Fadnavis while both were attending Transform Maharashtra conference organised by the state government.

Responding positively to the actor’s suggestion, The CM said that the sate would construct an adequate number of toilets and geo-tag them. This means citizens will soon be able to find the nearest toilet using a mobile application.

Talking on the event, Mr Kumar said, “On this event I would like request chief minister Devendra Fadnavis that the state government should think of having toilets on the location where STD and ISD booths were located. This would be a great step towards Swachch Maharashtra Abhiyan of the state government.”

Speaking about his upcoming movie, Toilet: Ek Prem Katha, Mr Kumar said, “Agar biwi chaiye toh toilet hona zaruri hai (It is important to have a toilet if one wants a wife). I would request every male citizen of this country to have toilet in their houses if they plan to get married.”

The Transform Maharashtra initiative is a competition that invites solutions from college students to resolve challenges faced by Maharashtra. The competition had around 2,300 submissions from around 1,15,000 students from the state. Numerous presentations were followed by selfies with the actor, Mr Fadnavis.
