Mumbai: Following the death of a baby following a measles-rubella (MR) vaccination, the Food and Drug Authority (FDA) has directed officials to immediately stop the use of the batch of measles and rubella vaccine, which was used. This is the first such action by the FDA despite the government dismissing all reports of post-vaccination illness.

According to FDA officials, the MR vaccine along with three syringes was used during the vaccination. “We have ordered that the use of the vaccine be stopped, and samples of the drugs be drawn,” said PR Ramteke, drug inspector.
