Mumbai: A tender process of the Balasaheb Thackeray accidental insurance scheme will be finalised and the scheme will be implemented soon, said state health minister Deepak Sawant.

Mr Sawant was replying a calling attention motion over the accident insurance scheme. Bharatiya Janata Party MLC Prasad Lad has moved this calling attention in the legislative council on Friday.

Mr Sawant said that this scheme has been approved on June 7, 2016 by the state cabinet. However, the central government had come up with Ayushman Bharat health scheme. Now, the clarity has been achieved about the Thackeray insurance scheme, which is in the final stage of the implementation.

Mr Sawant also told the legislative council that implementation of this scheme, there would be three schemes such as Ayushman scheme, Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Jan Arogya Yojana and Balasaheb Thackeray accidental insurance.

Under the Balasaheb Thackeray accidental insurance, the accident victim will get maximum benefit of Rs 30,000 or free treatment for 72 hours. The motive behind this scheme is to ensure that no accident victim be denied treatment by the hospital in the state. The state government had announced this scheme in 2015.
