A fight has been going on for the past four years between the Shiv Sena and BJP, and CM Fadnavis was not keen on the appointments.

Mumbai: After a compromise between the Shiv Sena and BJP over appointments of corporations, CM Devendra Fadnavis has given a nod to 21 appointments. The BJP compromised on the MHADA chairman post and offered it to Shiv Sena MLA Uday Samant. The NCP leader who has close relations with the BJP has been appointed as chairman of Annasaheb Patil Corporation. Considering Lok Sabha and Assembly elections next year, CM Fadnavis cleared appointments, pending for four years in ten corporations, six boards, two authorities and one commission.

A fight has been going on for the past four years between the Shiv Sena and BJP, and CM Fadnavis was not keen on the appointments. However, to woo the Sena, he offered the MHADA chairman posts and another five chairman posts to the Sena, which they accepted. CM Fadnavis wanted to keep MHADA and CIDCO chairman posts with the BJP as these two corporations are important. Though the Sena has been slamming the PM Narendra Modi and CM Fadnavis governments, party chief Uddhav Thackeray accepted the offers. Initially, Mr Thackeray was not keen since only one years' tenure is pending for these posts.
