Mumbai: Nine injured in the Kamala Mills fire are still recuperating at trust-run Bhatia hospital.

No patients were discharged on Sunday and while one of them, an NRI patient, is critical, others are out of danger, according to the doctors.

The doctors treating the victims of the fire at Bhatia hospital, said, “The patients as well as their relatives are suffering trauma because of the incident. We are counselling them to help them feel better.”

Mayank Parekh, who has decided to start a social media campaign to spread awareness about how to remain calm and safe in such untoward situations, was counselled by the hospital on Sunday. His wife, Nupur, too is admitted in the same hospital and is currently recuperating.

A friend of victim Pallavi Hemang Jhakia, while talking about the trauma faced by Pallavi’s parents said, “They are in a state of shock at seeing their daughter undergo such pain and trauma.”

Akshay Balwani (23) had sustained more than 10 per cent burn injuries on his head, ears, hands and the back of his neck during the blaze. Currently admitted in the civic-run national burn care centre at Airoli, his condition is said to be stable for now.

Dr Sunil Keswani, dean, National Burns Hospital, said, “Balwani has suffered 10 per cent burn injuries and we have kept in an isolation ward to avoid infections. He is currently stable and as of now we have not performed any surgery on him.”
