Kolkata: CPI(M) state secretary Surjyakanta Mishra on Saturday assumed that the entire Trinamul Congress may turn into BJP in the state after the Lok Sabha election. He also blamed Trinamul chief Mamata Banerjee for allowing the BJP to make its presence felt in the state.

At ‘Meet-the-Press’ at Kolkata Dr Mishra said, “For 34 years, when the Leftists were in power in West Bengal, we never allowed defection from any party to our own. What the Trinamul started, is followed by the BJP now. We are now seeing the BJP trying to break the Trinamul too.”

The former health minister claimed, “The chief minister is now forced to make a roll-call in the attendance register to check how many has left her party and how many have switched to the BJP. It is a matter of great apprehension in reference to Tripura thatTrinamul will turn into BJP after the Lok Sabha polls.”

His comments came after Ms Banerjee alleged that the CPI(M) workers were campaigning for the BJP.

“55000 boys of ours were killed. But we did not touch a single CPI(M) cadre. They are doing well and are with the BJP. The mercenaries of the CPI(M) have become the strongmen of the BJP. They are surviving at the mercy of PM Narendra Modi by bringing the BJP in Bengal,” the Trinamul chief alleged at Pandua in Hooghly.
