Calcutta University to confer DLitt on Mamata Banerjee

The decision was taken at the Senate-Syndicate meeting of the CU on Wednesday.

Kolkata: The Calcutta University (CU) has decided to confer DLitt to chief minister Mamata Banerjee. The decision was taken at the Senate-Syndicate meeting of the CU on Wednesday.

Ms Banerjee will receive the honour at Nazrul Mancha on January 11 next year at the varsity’s annual convocation ceremony for her contribution in the field of arts, literature and social welfare, said CU vice-chancellor Sonali Chakravarti Banerjee adding that the chief minister has agreed to receive the honour.

The chief minister is also expected to deliver her address upon receiving the honour.
