Kolkata: Body of missing youth found in godown, 2 held

The police has arrested Sultan and his friend Dilwar Sheikh.

Kolkata: The decomposed body of a youth was recovered from a godown inside the Chitpur railyard, early on Saturday.

Mohammad Junaid, a resident of Bandipur in Khardah of Norh 24 Parganas, had been missing since December 2. The body was found at around 4 am in a bag inside the godown which was locked from outside.

The cops of the Khardah and Chitpur police stations broke open the godown and recovered the body from the bag. It was found that Junaid (20) was hacked to death with a sharp weapon on December 3.

Although the body was decomposed, the marks of injuries helped the investigators to conclude that it was a case of murder.

According to preliminary investigations, Junaid was forcibly taken to the Chitpur railyard by his brother-in-law, Sultan, and his associates, who later killed him. The police has arrested Sultan and his friend Dilwar Sheikh in connection with the murder.

The accused duo has been remanded in police custody for seven days by the court. Another accused, Kalu Yadav, is absconding. Interrogating Sultan, the police learnt that Junaid had married his sister after eloping with her to Patna.

After the marriage, Junaid used to torture his wife and it had led to a miscarriage which left Sultan furious. To take revenge, he invited Junaid to the godown for drinks and killed him with others after getting inebriated. The police is now hunting for Kalu.
