65-year old man found dead in Golpark flat

Kolkata: An aged man was found dead in a pool of blood with multiple injuries under at his residence in Golpark on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased, Prabir Kumar Das (65), was a businessman. The incident was close on heels of an elderly woman’s mysterious death in Netajinagar, Kolkata.

The police is not ruling out the possibility of murder. Das used to stay at the ground-floor of a four-storeyed apartment on Ballygunge Terrace. Few years ago, he had suffered cerebral attack, which left him physically challenged. He was alone at home at the time of his death. His pet, a labrador, was kept confined in another room, next to the one where he was found lying dead on the floor. Deep cut marks was found on Das’ head, apart from other injuries on the body. Blood stains were also found on the floor. The wife of the deceased had gone to Bengaluru for some business-related work.

The couple’s daughter is married, and lives in Mumbai. Deputy commissioner of police (south East) Gaurav Sharma, cops of the Lake police station and officers of the homicide section of the Kolkata Police detective department inspected the spot. The body was sent for post-mortem at M.R. Bangur Hospital. A sniffer dog was engaged in search of clues, since the police suspects murder.

The death came to light at around 12 pm when a domestic help knocked the door and didn’t get a response. She used a duplicate key to enter the house. The police has detained her for questioning.
