Three of family killed in accident in Hooghly
The couple’s minor daughter and their domestic help have been admitted to a hospital with severe injuries.
Kolkata: Three members of a family, including a couple, from Kolkata were killed in a road accident on Sunday on Durgapur Expressway in Hooghly. The couple’s minor daughter and their domestic help have been admitted to a hospital with severe injuries.
Three days ago Debabrata Mondal (36), a resident of Muchipara in north Kolkata, went to Kamarpukur-Joyrambati in Hooghly on a weekend trip. He was accompanied by his wife Debaleena (30), Debaleena’s mother Chandrima (55), the couple’s one-and-half-year-old daughter and their female domestic help.
Debdut was driving the car when the family met with the accident. While returning in the morning, Debdut lost control over the car and rammed it into a stationary truck at Shibpur More near Gurap. The intensity of the collision was so high that the car completely mangled. Debdut, Debaleena and Chandrima were killed at the spot.
Locals rushed the family members to Burdwan Medical College and Hospital (BMCH) where doctors declared three of them brought dead.
