Bengal is new investment hub now: Mamata Banerjee
CM assures industrialists of free and fair business environment, urges them to invest in state.
Kolkata: Describing West Bengal as the ideal destination for investments chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Tuesday called upon the industrialists at the inauguration of the fourth edition of the Business Global Business Summit (BGBS) to set up their ventures in the state. According to her, the state has attained political stability which is essential for industry.
Industrialists Mukesh Ambani, L.N. Mittal and Sajjan Jindal were among the top who were present from the corporate world.
Inauguarating the two-day event, Ms Banerjee said, “We can dedicate ourselves to our industry friends. You do the business. Bengal is the destination now. Industry means business. Business means stability. We have the political stablity. We came to power in 2011. Before that the figure of man-days lost was around 78 lakhs. It has become a zero in next six years. So we do not allow any strike or illegal thing which will destroy the situation.”
To remove the anti-industry tag on the state before the corporate world, the chief minister noted that hurdles to the industries leave her in pain. Presenting her image of an impartial as an administrator she made it clear that she does not allow any disturbance.
Ms Banerjee affirmed that even if the troublemaker happens to be from her party, she would not spare him. She then showcased the achievements of her government to woo the investors. The chief minister added, “We have always got blessings from the elders and younsters who are our future and who are helping us. Because of them Bengal has already created employment more than 81 lakhs in last six years. In rural Bengal sector we are number 1 in India. The capital expenditure is more than 7.5 per cent. In GDP we are way ahead of others. If you look at skill development, Bengal is number 1 in it. We love India. We love unity of India. We love tolerance.”
Allaying fears of the industrialists of facing any opposition to do business the chief minister mentioned, “We tolerate also. If the industries are not tolerable then what will be tolerable? I think you must invest in Bengal. I assure one thing. Bengal will not deprive anyone. In Bengal we love all of you and accept all of you.” At least nine partner-countries and over 32 nations with their big delegations are participating in this year’s BGBS.
