According to sources, Mr Bakshi had also given him some puja gifts. Party insders revealed that his visit was aimed at sending a message of support to Mr Pal who felt dejected after his fellow Trinamul MP Sudip Bandopadhyay was granted bail in May this year.

Meanwhile the CBI questionned the two police officers in the Saradha chit fund scam to trace some missing items including a pen drive and some documents. One of them is Mr Shankar Chakraborty while the other is Mr Dilip Hazra, according to sources.

Both were associated in the probe of the chit fund scam before the case was handed over to the CBI. Mr Chakraborty is now posted as the deputy superintendent of police at the criminal investigation department.
