The Asian Age contacted RIL for its response on Mr Fadnavis’ reply to the Assembly via email but received no response at the time of going to press.

In his reply to Mr Sonawale, the chief minister  said, “The construction in the G-block of Bandra Kurla Complex owned by MMRDA was not completed by some firms within four years’ period. Hence the additional surcharge for such delay has not yet been paid by the companies, including RIL.”

“The dues include Rs 441.08 crore for plot number C-66 and Rs 1,538.73 crore for plot number C-64 from RIL alone,” Mr Fadnavis added.

Mr Fadnavis also said that Oriental Bank of Commerce on plot number C-29 and Income Tax department plot number C-41 and C-43 have paid the surcharge, and the construction is going on.
