2 women attack another with acid
When Sumita and Bulu were detained by the police for questionning, they revealed the reason.
Kolkata: Two women attacked another with acid in Lake Town on Sunday evening, accusing her of having affairs with their individual husbands.
The two women were arrested by the police.
At around 5 pm the victim from J.N. Sarkar Road was on her way to work at Dhipi near Patipukur railway station. That is when Sumita Bhaskar (45) and Bulu Biswas (44) got hold of her and poured acid on her. With burn injuries on her face and body the victim was rescued by the local residents who rushed her to R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The police initially was confused about the motive behind the attack. When Sumita and Bulu were detained by the police for questionning, they revealed the reason.
The victim was accused of having affairs with Laxman, husband of Sumita, a resident of Tentultala rail quarter bustee and Swapan, husband of Bulu, a resident of Natun Pally, according to the police.
The accused women have enmity with the victim and they had altercations with her on several occasions in the past, said a police officer. Sumita and Bulu were later arrested on charges of 326A, 354, 506 and 34 of the IPC.
