Woman gangraped, brutalised

Kolkata: In a shocking incident, a broken liquor bottle was allegedly inserted into the private parts of a woman after she was gangraped at Saithia in Birbhum late on Sunday night.

The victim was rushed to Sainthia Grameen Hospital from where she was later shifted to Suri Sadar Hospital following a medical test.

The group of three accused is absconding. The incident took place at Babajipara in ward no 3 of Sainthia municipality.

According to the victim, at around 1.30 am the accused, who were in a drunken state, stormed her residence where she stays with her two children.

She alleged that the trio dragged her to another room and beat her before raping her in turns.

The woman, whose husband stays in another state for work, claimed that she could not scream because her mouth was gagged. She further added that they inserted a broken beer bottle into her private parts.

Acting on her complaint, the police initiated a case.

Preliminary investigation revealed that one of the accused was known to the victim who had a tiff with him on September 9 at Sainthia bus-stand.

He physically abused her prompting her to lodge a complaint of molestation which was however settled later, sources revealed.

At night the youth threatened to rape her next day.
