Kolkata: Tollywood actor Arindam Haldar and his wife came under attack by some men working for Aadhaar card registration in Baguiati on Wednesday morning.

Haldar later lodged a complaint with the Baguiati police station. The police detained one person in connection with the case. At around 10.30 am, Haldar’s wife Lopamudra went rectify her name in her Aadhaar card at a centre opened at a Maya Studio in Raghunathpur.

Haldar said, “We had been calling them up for a long time for the rectification but they did not respond. Finally on Tuesday night I received a call from them asking us to come for the rectification. Initially I could not come as I was busy. My wife collected a form after a payment of Rs 15.

He added, “I accompanied my wife in the queue. Trouble broke out after the work at the centre was closed for lunch by the persons who were running it without any intimation. When my wife asked why there was no prior information or notice, she was assaulted by one of the men. I tried to protect her but I was also thrashed. I received injuries on the head and toe.”
