Kolkata: At a time when chief minister Mamata Banerjee stayed back in Darjeeling to take stock of the anarchy, Trinamul Congress secretary-general Partha Chatterjee said on Friday that the BJP is instigating the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in their violent protest movement in the Hills. “The BJP has been fishing in troubled waters and they are also getting support of the CPI(M) who have been turned into a signboard. The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) leaders had come to Kolkata and had held a meeting with a political party here before resorting to their terrorist movement,” Mr Chatterjee said, hinting at a conspiracy between the GJM and the BJP for disturbing peace in the Hills. Left Front chairman Biman Bose blamed chief minister Mamata Banerjee for the anarchy in the Hills.

“She has gone to the Hills to hold the Cabinet meeting there after 43 years spending a few lakhs only to blow the trumpet of her government. She needs to discuss the matter with the GTA otherwise peace will elude the Hills,” Mr Bose said. BJP state president Dilip Ghosh also blamed Ms Banerjee for the violence in the Hills.

“She is trying to instigate the people in the Hills against the Morchas. So she is travelling so many times to Darjeeling. She has been taught a good lesson,” Mr Ghosh said.
