Kolkata: A middle-aged man fired three rounds of pellets from an air-gun at his son during a feud between them in their Baguiati residence on Thursday afternoon. Both have been arrested.

At lunch, a verbal duel took place between his wife and their younger son, Apurba, who is a homeopathy physician. Apurba’s mother complained to him alleging why he gives Rs 2,000 only to run the family while his elder brother, a software engineer, gives more.

Apurba turned angry and wanted the discussion to stop. Following this, he assaulted her and his wife Shampa.

When Shome jumped to rescue, Apurba confronted him. After this, Shome hit him with an iron rod on his head leaving him injured. Infuriated at this, the father, took out an air-gun and opened fire at Apurba. The pellets however missed the target.

In the evening Apurba lodged a complaint with the police against his father for his head injuries, said K. Sabari Rajkumar, deputy commissioner of police (detective department) of the Bidhannagar city police.

The air-gun was seized. At night Shampa lodged a complaint with the police against her husband who was later arrested.
