Kolkata: Trinamul Congress MP Tapas Pal has preferred acting to politics for comeback after getting bail in the multi-crore Rose Valley chit fund scam. He complained that his three nerves were damaged during his prolong custody for the past 13 months after his arrest by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on December 30 in 2016.

On Sunday morning, Mr Pal, accompanied by his wife Nandini, left Bhubaneswar to return home in Kolkata. He also reposed his faith in Trinamul supremo and chief minister Mamata Banerjee for standing by him. The Lok Sabha MP from Krishnanagar in Nadia, however, added that he was living in fear of being shadowed by the CBI continuously.

Mr Pal said, “I spent over one year here. I also underwent treatment. After returning home, I will go for a medical check-up first because I am not fit yet. I still suffer from pain in the waist. If the doctor prescribes me again to take admission to a hospital, I will do it. Only after that, they can tell me when I can get back to normal life.”

Asked about when he would return to politics and in films he mentioned, “I am an actor. I can not go anywhere leaving acting. I express my sincere gratitude to the people from the world of film, theatre and drama. I have acted in many films which were shot in Odisha. I thank the people of this state. They are very good like those are from Kolkata and West Bengal.”

The Trinamul MP explained, “I love them because Bengal, Bihar, Assam and Odisha are called brothers. I am elated to return home after such a long time. Going home I will take rest for some time. I also salute the judiciary. I have immense respect for it.” Referring to his rape threat at a rally few years ago, he also sought apology for his remarks.

“I have not been keeping well since 2014. I passed a wrong comment. I apologise to each and every citizen of the country for it. I committed an offence then. I hope no one has to undergo what I have gone through in the last 13 months. I did not do anything wrong,” he said.
