Kolkata: Three persons died after falling in an under-construction septic tank in Nadia on Sunday morning. The victims were Bakbul Mullick (27), Farukh Mondal (28) and Abdul Hamid Mondal (50).

Farukh was the nephew of Abdul. The incident took place at the house of Ranjit Singh Yadav at Pukurdanga in Post Officepara. Bakbul and Farukh were removing the wooden plates after cementing of the septic tank there.

They however lost control and fell into the water. Hearing their screams, local residents rushed to the spot. Abdul was passing by the spot then. He also rushed to the septic tank and found his nephew among the two.

Without delay, Abdul also threw himself in the water to save his nephew and fellow worker. However, he failed as he was drowned along with two others. Later, their bodies were recovered by the locals and were sent for post-mortem.
