Kolkata: The Border Security Force (BSF) has recovered a consignment of gold biscuits worth around Rs 44 lakhs at Bongaon in North 24 Parganas. On Friday, the BSF received a tip-off about the smuggling of gold biscuits in the general area of border out post Haridaspur along the Indo-Bangla border. A BSF team planned a raid in the Bongaon railway station area.

Reaching the spot the BSF jawans recovered a nylon bag which contained 12 pieces of gold biscuits which weighed around 1399.1 gm valuing Rs 44,15,560. The seized consignment has been handed over to the Customs at Petrapole, according to a statement by the South Bengal Frontier of the BSF. During the year 2018, the South Bengal Frontier of the BSF has seized 7.751 kg of gold (including this seizure) valuing Rs 2,43,26,576 while catching two gold smugglers.
