In March this year, a soldier artillery gunner D.S. Roy Matthews (33), working as a ‘buddy’ in School of Artillery was reported missing and after some days, his decomposed body was found hanging on March 2 this year, in a remote area. He had committed suicide.

Later cases were filed against a journalist and a retired army officerfor allegedly abetting the suicide. They had allegedly conducted a sting operation in the Haigline area of the Military, on the ‘buddy’ system.
