Software engineer jumps to death after quarrel

She came to Pune to meet her mother who recently underwent surgery.

Pune: A 23-year-old software engineer committed suicide by jumping from her boyfriend’s fourth-floor flat on Wednesday after a bitter quarrel with him. She was rushed to the hospital but doctors could not save her.

The police said that the fight erupted over the fact that the deceased landed up at her boyfriend’s flat despite the latter having told her not to do so as his final-year engineering examinations were underway. The boyfriend acknowledged that he had a fight with the deceased but he also told the police that he never imagined she would take such a drastic step.

The deceased, Juhi Nitin Gandhi, a resident of Shantinagar Society, Kondhwa, Pune, worked for a software company in Bangalore. She came to Pune to meet her mother who recently underwent surgery. After seeing her mother, she went to meet her boyfriend, who stays with three other friends in a rented apartment on the fourth floor of Suma Silver Society, Kondhwa. When Juhi called him to say she was planning to visit him, he told her not to as he was in the midst of examinations. However, she went to his flat in the morning anyway, after which they had a verbal fight. While he headed down the staircase and reached the second floor, she threw herself from the balcony of his fourth-floor apartment. Seeing her lying in a pool of blood, he rushed her to Bharati Hospital but doctors could not save her.

Assistant police inspector, Kondhwa, Kiran Tapase, said, “As per post-mortem reports, she died of multiple injuries. We have filed an ADR.”

We spoke to her boyfriend and he told us that he and his roommates were giving their final-year engineering exams and he had an exam on Wednesday as well. When Juhi called him before visiting him, he told her not to come but she arrived at his flat anyway. They had a fight over there and she jumped off from the fourth floor.
