Two killed as Tavera rams into tanker in Nashik

Nashik: Two persons were killed, and one was injured after a speeding Tavera SUV rammed into a tanker from behind on Mumbai-Agra highway on Monday morning in Nashik.

The deceased have been identified as Gorakh Patil (29) and Pushpa Devkisan Gagrani (58).

Sources said that a tanker of Bharat Gas was headed towards Dhule. The tanker driver slowed ahead of a speed breaker on the highway near K.K. Wagh college in Panchavati area of Nashik city. The Tavera, which was behind the truck collided with the heavy vehicle. The driver Gorakh Patil (29) of Swapnapurti Nagar probably did not see the brake lights and rammed into the tanker. The Tavera was completely flattened and was stuck in the chassis of the tanker.

Later, fire fighters used gas cutters to cut off the vehicle and recover the bodies.

Malegaon’s renowned businessman Devkisan Gagrani (62) and wife Pushpa (58) had gone to Mumbai airport to see off their US-based son Vaibhav and his wife Bhavana, and while returning the mishap took place near hotel Jatra at 6 am. The injured Devkisan was shifted to Apollo hospital in Nashik for treatment, and he is critical.
