Engineering student kills self in Pune

Pune: Depressed over failure in all subjects of the first year, an engineering student from  a prestigious engineering college of Pune committed suicide today. The college had announced the result yesterday.

According to a source, Kiran Ramkisan Sawant, 20 years-old, was a first year student of Marathwada Mitramandal Institute of Technology, Lohegoan, Pune, one of the well known engineering colleges in the city. Yesterday the college had announced the result of the first year students for the batch of 2016-17. Kiran failed in all the subjects and since then he avoided talking to his friends.

Kiran, who originally hails from Sonpeth in Parbhani district locked himself in his room in the college hostel after the results were announced and today morning his friends found him hanging from a ceiling fan in his room.

Vilas Sonde, Police Inspector, Vimantal, Pune said, “According to his friends, they knocked on the door of Kiran’s room to call him for going to college. He did not open and after several knocks they broke the door. He was hanging from a ceiling fan with a cloth.”
