Jaipur: The life of a serial killer who was arrested by the Rajasthan police was no less than a Bollywood crime thriller. Arrested on Monday, an IAS aspirant, who became serial killer, evaded arrest for three decades by effortlessly locating to different cities, changing his identity and marrying different girls. Mohammed Rafiq, alias Aman, alias Arjun, had no qualms before killing the people who helped him before he was finally arrested by the police when he was about to execute another plan to murder his wife.

Rafiq was detained by Jhotwara police after his movements were found suspicious. On a tip-off, the police detained him for questioning and recovered a pistol and cartridges from his possession.

During interrogation, Rafiq made startling revelations. He had Rs 12,000 cash reward on his head by the Lucknow police for killing his mother-in-law besides several other cases of attempt to murder, eloping with a girl and scuffle.

According to the police, Rafiq, who is now 46 years old, had murdered his classmate in college in Bundi in 1990. Then Rafiq thrashed a multiple persons and before the police could catch him, he eloped with a girl of his college, the police said.

He admitted that he was Mohammad Rafiq from Bundi and had spent half of his life evading the Rajasthan police.

When he was in Agra, Rafiq also began preparing for IAS. He wanted to become IAS officer but was forced to give up his dream because of frequent visits to courts.

While hiding in Agra, he forged document and got a new identity as Aman. Here, he cleared Class 12 from open school and began preparing for IAS exams along with LLB. Simultaneously, he started marble business with a person named Ishtiyaq and also married to a girl. But when he got into relationship with another girl, his in-laws asked him to divorce their daughter.

After some time, he fell out with his business partner and got him killed. He packed up his business and shifted to Jaipur.

In Jaipur, he again forged documents and assumed the name of one Arjun Singh. He rented a place and soon got married to elder daughter of his land lord. But he fell in love with wife’s younger sister. Soon, he fled to Lucknow with sister-in-law whom he later married.

In December 2016, Rafiq slit the throat of his mother-in-law in Lucknow. His wife filed a case against him following which he went to hide in Aligarh, Mathura, and Jaipur.

When Rafiq came to know that his third wife had filed a murder case against him, he decided to get rid of her. He had arranged some money by selling some arms for her murder. But he was arrested by the Rajasthan police before he could execute his plan to murder his third wife.

Without showing remorse to his crimes, Rafiq, however, demanded action against those government employees, including district collectors and tehsildars who signed his forged documents.
