Three African women held with drugs worth Rs 70 lakh.

All four of them have been arrested under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS).

New Delhi: In a major crackdown, three African women and a man were arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) in the national capital for allegedly trying to smuggle narcotic drugs worth Rs 70 lakh in the international market, an official said on Sunday.

Drugs (pseudoephedrine and ephedrine) weighing over 32 kgs have also been seized by the sleuths of the Delhi zonal unit of the NCB in three separate operations launched by them since Saturday.

All four have been apprehended from the Indira Gandhi International Airport in the last 24 hours while they were trying to fly out to various foreign destinations with the contraband concealed in their bags, a senior NCB officer said.

”About 32.4 kgs of drugs worth Rs 70 lakh in the international market has been seized from the four in three different operations being conducted since Saturday,” the officer said. The three women have been identified as Doris Mwansa from Zambia (46), Mandaba Violet Xaba from South African (31) and Patricia S Ncube (46) and Johnson from Nigerian, the officer said.

All four of them have been arrested under sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS). The contacts of the four arrested foreigners in India are also being investigated, the officer added.
