Delhi: Elderly held for molesting minor

New Delhi: A 60-year-old man has been arrested from East Delhi’s Shakarpur area for molesting a minor.

The arrest came after a video of the alleged act went viral on social media last month. Cops were initially in a fix with no trace of the molester and the area where the incident took place.

However, the case saw light when the video reached a youth of the same area earlier this week. The shell-shocked youth couldn’t believe that the minor girl, who was being molested in the video, was none other than his sister.

The video was claimed to have been originated in Uttar Pradesh’s Meerut. However, the brother approached the local police and lodged a complaint. Based on the compliant, the accused was identified as Alijaan Khan. Probe reveals that the brother of the victim, soon after watching the video, rushed home and spoke to his sister about the same. She revealed to her brother about how she was molested on August 22 when she had gone to buy bangles at a nearby cosmetic shop. Enraged over it, the brother approached the police with the video.

Based on the complaint, the police arrested Alijaan. The girl, in her statement to the police, said that Alijaan misbehaved with her.

She even resisted his attempt, but he continued with his act. Meanwhile, a man who was standing nearby made a video and immediately shared it on WhatsApp group. Subsequently, the video went viral. On Thursday, the police arrested Alijaan from Shakarpur and booked him under Pocso Act.
