Delhi: 2,000 teens to be trained in improving skill sets

New Delhi: More than 2,000 teenagers mainly from slum areas have been selected for being trained in various skill sets, including as video editors and data entry operators to prevent them from taking to crime at a skill training programme launched by the Delhi Police on Tuesday.

Launching the initiative titled Yuva, Union home minister Rajnath Singh called it a move in the right direction. 

Police commissioner Amulya Patnaik said that the initiative was an effort from preventing youths into getting into crime at a young age.

The event resonated with cries of ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’ and ‘Vande Mataram’ from the teenagers. Apart from Delhi police, the event is  also organised by NSDC and Confederation of Indian Industry.

Singh said the initiative will definitely improve the image of Delhi Police and will take police-public relations to a new high. He also added that the SIs, constables play a vital role of ruining or improving the image of the Delhi Police. Such initiatives will go a long way in improving the police’s image.
