New Delhi: In order to increase night patrolling and step up security measures in the capital, the city police has made arrangements to provide LPG heater stoves to the night patrolling staff.

Recently in Mangolpuri, senior police officers visited a picket and boosted the morale and enjoyed the tea served by the night patrolling staff. The whole idea was the brainchild of the DCP, Outer.

The Outer district police has started this initiative keeping two things in mind. First to keep the night duty police officers warm during the Delhi’s winter and secondly to check the use of lighting up bonfires, which gives rise to pollution.

“From the past few days, the pollution level as well as cold in Delhi is on the rise. To protect themselves from cold, the night patrolling staff use bonfire (wood and coal) to keep themselves warm during cold nights. Since this will increase pollution, so we came up with the option of distributing LPG heater stoves to them and banning bonfires,” said Dinesh Kumar, ACP Special Staff, Outer.

“The LPG heater stoves will also help the night picket and patrolling officers to make tea or coffee during during the cold nights, which will keep them warm and awake,”Mr Kumar added.

Among the first ones to be felicitated were the police officials of Picket 88 in Mangolpuri.

“This initiative has filled us with joy and confidence as the senior police  officers are taking good care of us in this weather. All of us will now work with more power and alertness,” said an a police officer of the night staff.
