Delhi: Women’s cell facing staff shortage

New Delhi: The women’s cell of Delhi Congress is facing workforce crunch as five out of fourteen posts of the district presidents have been lying vacant since the civic elections. 

Rumor is that there is a huge communication gap in the women’s cell. A highly placed source said that in the recent past, the Delhi Congress conducted a number of protests in connection with several burning issues, but the district presidents, especially from the women’s cell, were missing. 

“Our women’s cell is in a pathetic condition. There are fourteen district presidents of the Mahila morcha (women cell), but in the last protests that we held in the national capital, only a few were present at the protest venue. Though we are making effort to put it on track, it will take some time,” the source said.  

The source further said that in the last protest, they formed a human chain in which the number of women workers was few. The acting president of the women’s cell, Sai Anamika, said that five posts are lying vacant since the MCD elections. She said that in a new list, the names of all fourteen district presidents will be released in November. 

“I don’t think there is any kind of communication gap in the women’s cell. Each of our women members is timely informed about every activity of the Delhi Pradesh Congress, whether it is a protest or a general meeting,” Ms Anamika said.

She also said that her team brought in as many as 250 new members to the women’s cell. “We are still working to make more members,” she added.
