New Delhi: The Delhi BJP on Wednesday held a massive demonstration near the Assembly complex before the special session, demanding action against PWD minister Satyendar Jain and others in the AAP government involved in corruption. The BJP also demanded the release of funds for the party-ruled municipal corporations.

Addressing the demonstrators, Delhi BJP general secretary Ravinder Gupta said “corruption is rampant in government work”. “You just name the department; every department has its own stories of corruption,” added Mr Gupta.

Mr Gupta also challenged CM Arvind Kejriwal to stand up in the Assembly and issue a stateme-nt on allegations of corru-ption during his regime.

The Delhi BJP vice-president and member-elect of the standing committee of North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC), Jai Prakash, condemned Mr Kejriwal for disgracing the mandate of the people, who choose the BJP to serve them through the civic bodies, by not allowing the three municipal corporations to function.

“People of Delhi voted to re-elect BJP to run the civic bodies after the delimitation of wards, but shamefully the Kejriwal government has not yet issued a notification constituting the new zonal structure of the three civ-ic bodies thus withholding the start of administrative and public welfare work,” said Mr Prakash.

Mr Prakash demanded the immediate approval to ward structure reconstitution proposal pending with the Delhi government.

Party’s MLA O.P. Sharma alleged that the Kejriwal government has left behind its predecessor (the Congress government) in both corruption and nepotism.

Mr Sharma demanded the immediate release of municipal funds as per the Fourth Delhi Finance Commission recommendations already accepted by the Delhi Assembly last year.
