Rape accused, wife found dead in house

New Delhi: A day after the triple murders rocked the national capital, a 55-year-old man, accused of rape, was found dead along with his wife under mysterious circumstances, on Saturday, inside their house in Southeast Delhi’s Zakir Nagar.

According to police, Shamim Ahmed (55) and his wife Taslim Bano (50) had gone to sleep in their room on the first floor of their house around 11 pm on Friday. Their son had returned around 2.30 am, but they did not open the door. He came back on Saturday morning, but his parents still did not respond. On failing to get a response from his father even after repeated calls, he called his uncle. They broke open the door and found his parents dead.

A woman relative had accused Ahmed of rape and a case had been registered against him in the matter. During probe the police also learnt that there was a dowry case registered against Ahmed by his daughter-in-law.

The police said that no external injuries were found on the two bodies. Post-mortem examination will help in ascertaining the cause of death.

The jurisdictional police has initiated a probe into the same and is waiting for the reports to ascertain the cause of their death.
