New Delhi: The Delhi University placement season for the academic year 2016-2017 kick-started with some of the best placements, leaving students excited by the offers in companies’ kitties. While North Campus’ St. Stephen’s has received the highest package of Rs 40 lakh, Lady Sri Ram College of South Campus bagged the second position with Rs 34 lakh package.

The two colleges have witnessed a sharp rise in their annual packages in comparison to last year’s offer of Rs 29 lakh each.

According to a source, three students from Sri Ram College of Commerce (SRCC) bagged a package of Rs 29 lakh in the November placement drive by strategy consultancy company Parthenon-EY. The highest package for SRCC was Rs 17 lakh in 2015.

The average cost-to-company (CTC) offered during campus placements at Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) for the batch of 2017 hit a four-year high of Rs 20.6 lakh per annum.

The average CTC offered to FMS Delhi graduates increased for the third consecutive year. For the batch of 2016, the average CTC offered was Rs 20.5 lakh per annum, up from Rs 17 lakh per annum in 2015, and Rs 16.2 lakh in 2014.

Accenture Strategy and EY Consulting emerged top recruiters at FMS Delhi with 10 offers each at the final campus placements this year in January. Capgemini Global Consulting made nine offers while Amazon India hired eight graduates this year.

While the highest international offer is Rs 1 crore, the number of international offers saw an increase from 6 to 12 this year.

Apart from the individual placement cell of the varsity colleges, the varsity Central Placement Cell (CPC) provides placement assistance, counselling for employment and self/social entrepreneurship. Any student of the university can register himself with the CPC and can sit for the drive.

”In the recent past, recruiters and companies have started looking for students from DU. Every company that has visited the college so far, has been impressed by the calibre of the students. The CPC acts as an interface between the industry and the students, and primarily enable the students to select from their career options,” an official said.
