New Delhi: A Delhi District Cricket Association (DDCA) employee died of an alleged heart attack on Thursday morning. Preliminary reports suggest that the deceased identified as Ratan Lal, an employee of DDCA was allegedly caught on camera stealing a new 32 inch LED T.V from the players dressing room in Firozshah Kotla stadum on April 25.

According to the complaint, the alleged theft, which was caught by CCTV cameras installed inside the stadium, was seen by the officials on Wednesday morning. According to the FIR lodged by C.K. Agrawal, on Wednesday, Ratan Lal in the CCTV footage was seen carrying the 32 inch LED TV along with his family members from the dressing room. The theft was said to have taken place between 11 pm to 11.30 pm

The complaint read that, Ratan Lal and his relatives were unaware of the theft being recorded. He was seen lifting the LED, which was brought on rent for the IPL, and sneaking out from the dressing room and going towards the clubhouse.

They then kept the TV inside the parked car and left the place. On May 2, a match between Delhi Daredevils and Sunrise Hyderabad has a match scheduled in Firoz Shah Kotla.

The complainant, who came to the stadium on Wednesday after checking the CCTV footage, found Ratan Lal stealing. He immediately approached the IP Estate police station and filed an FIR in this regard. Meanwhile, Ratan Lal, who learnt about the complaint registered against him, became restless and left for the house.

Ratan Lal’s family has quashed the claims of Ratan being a thief. The family said that he came home, had his dinner and went to sleep.

On Thursday morning, when he didn’t open the room, his son went to check on him and after repeated knocks when he didn’t answer the door, he opened the room with duplicate keys and found him lying unconscious.

He was immediately taken to Ambedkar Hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The IP Estate police has taken up the case and are probing the incident.
