Gang of arms suppliers busted in North Delhi

New Delhi: The Delhi police busted a gang of arms dealers and arrested three persons in New Usmanpur area of north Delhi in this regard. They also recovered a cache of 26 automatic pistols, 800 live cartridges and 19 extra magazines.

Deputy commissioner of police (North-east) Atul Kumar Thakur said, “High-profile illegal firearms supplier Saleem alias Pistol along with his two associates was arrested. The police team also recovered Rs one lakh in cash and a Fortuner car from their possession.

The arrested accused were identified as Salim Ahmad alias Pistol (47) his brother Naseem Ahmad (30) and Mohd. Faizan (22).

For the past several months, the North-east police team was working hard to trace Salim alias Pistol and his men who supplied sophisticated imported fire arms to criminals of Delhi-NCR.

On Saturday, on a tip-off that a black Fortuner car was going towards Delhi from Sanauli Border area, the police sprung into action, and stopped the car in New Usmanpur area and arrested the accused.

During sustained interrogation, Salim disclosed that he was in the crime field for more than 20 years and was supplying arms for the past 10 years. He was fond of carrying weapons.

Damaged illegal arms from various parts of Western Uttar Pradesh came to him for repair, he said. During travel, he hides the weapons in tyre stepney of his car. The accused Salim was previously involved in eight cases, the police added.
