After rigorous patrolling in the area, special pickets were erected; secret informers were deployed; and verification of anti-social elements in the parks was conducted regularly. The efforts by the police paid off when information about criminals indulged in robberies and snatchings in the area was received.

A team was constituted and on March 20, the police team laid a trap near Okhla Mandi and apprehended Danish. He was carrying a loaded country made pistol and was immediately arrested. On his instance, his associate Deepak was also arrested.

According to police on March 7, at around 8.30 pm, the accused persons boarded a slow moving train near Okhla railway station and targeted the victim, who was seated near the gate of the train and was speaking on his mobile phone. Accused Danish snatched his phone and jumped from the train and ran away along with his associate.
