Arms suppliers gang busted, 18 pistols seized

The police said that the three-member inter-state gang supplied sophisticated arms in Delhi-NCR.

New Delhi: With the arrest of three persons, the police claimed to have busted a gang of arms suppliers As many as 18 pistols, eight cartridges and an SUV Bolero have been recovered from them. 

The police said that the three-member inter-state gang supplied sophisticated arms in Delhi-NCR. The special cell of the police has recovered a total of 378 illegal pistols, 112 spare magazines, five carbines and 635 live cartridges so far in the year 2017.

The arrested persons have been identified as Shiv Singh alias Shiva, 25, Mangal Singh, 24, and Ravi, 20. All are residents of village Parsondha of Dholpur district, Rajasthan. Mr Shiv has previously been arrested in several Arms Act cases. 

The police said that the 18 illegal latest .32 bore pistols along with eight live cartridges were hidden in a cavity beneath rear head light in the SUV Bolero. The SUV is owned by Mr Shiv. 

The police said that on October 25, the team received a tip off that the inter-state illegal arms suppliers gang would supply a consignment of illegal arms to one of their moles in Delhi area. 

Accordingly a trap was laid in Yamuna Khadar area near the DDA Park of New Usmanpur in North-East Delhi district at 2.30 pm. At about 3.00 pm, the accused persons reached the spot to deliver the consignment. They were overpowered by the waiting police personnel, who arrested the trio.

During interrogation, the arrested persons revealed that they have been supplying illegal arms since the past five years. They also disclosed that they had so far supplied around 500 pistols in Delhi, NCR and Uttar Pradesh (West) area. 

They purchased the illegal pistols from one Fauzi in Khargone, Madhya Pradesh for Rs 6,000 and sell them to prospective buyers for Rs 20,000 and above. 

The Bolero was bought to conceal the illegal arms and evade police detection. He had also lured two other persons — Mr Mangal Singh and Mr Ravi —in the nefarious trade. The prospect of earning easy money   lured the duo. Efforts are on to identify their associates in Delhi, NCR, Rajasthan and Western UP, the police said.
