New Delhi: A station house officer on Thursday evening allegedly beat up a sub-inspector attached to Outer Delhi’s Mundka, the police said on Saturday. The incident occurred when the 56-year-old jurisdictional sub-inspector, Pradeep, asked the station assistant sub-inspector to help a victim register an FIR.

According to the complaint, Pradeep was on duty from 8 am to 8 pm. After finishing his duty, Pradeep was leaving for home when suddenly around 9 pm he heard a commotion in the station. When he went to check, he saw a victim crying for help, pleading the cops to register his complaint. Pradeep added that when he asked the assistant sub-inspector about the issue, the duty officer told him that the victim had been frequenting the station to get his complaint registered.

After learning about the problem, Pradeep immediately directed his junior subordinate to register the FIR. Meanwhile, the station house officer, Satya Prakash, came out of his room and allegedly began hurling abuses at the SI. When Pradeep tried reasoning with Satya Prakash, the latter allegedly assaulted the SI and stormed out.

According to the police, the SHO was allegedly drunk while on duty and had been misbehaving in the past. Following the incident, the SI has not reported for duty and has allegedly asked his seniors to take action against the SHO for his behaviour.
