Girl kills self after father scolds her

New Delhi: A Class 10 girl student committed suicide by hanging herself from the ceiling fan in her house after her father allegedly reprimanded her for not studying properly. 

At the time of the incident, the girl was alone at home in Rohini district's Mangolpuri, according to the police.

The police said that the incident took place on Saturday. The deceased had written a suicide note, which read that she was ending her life fed up by the constant scoldings her father. She mentioned that she will not score good marks in the Board exams and that’s the reason for ending her life. 

Probe revealed that Pooja (name changed) was weak in studies. She didn't like the constant check on her by her father to concentrate on studies and perform well in CBSE Board exams. 

On Saturday, Pooja was alone at home when her mother had gone to visit a a neighbour, while her father, who is a property dealer, was out for work. The 15-year-old with the help of dupatta hanged herself from the ceiling fan of her room. 

The police added that Upon returning home, when the mother went to check on Pooja in her room, she was shocked to see her daughter hanging from the ceiling fan. The mother immediately raised an alarm and informed her husband and the police. A team visited the spot and sent her body for post mortem.
