Delhi police arrests three ISJK ultras from Srinagar

New Delhi: In a major breakthrough, the sleuths of special cell of Delhi police has arrested three terrorists associated with Islamic State in Jammu and Kashmir (ISJK) which is a module following the footsteps of ISIS.

Three grenades and two pistols along with 14 live cartridges and an ISIS black flag were recovered from them.

ISJK is a ISIS-inspired module through which the accused were trying to establish their footprints in Delhi and were planning to contact people in Delhi so that they can operate from the national capital. Further, the handlers of the module is said to be operating from Pakistan.

The arrested trio identified as, Tahir Ali Khan (23), Haris Mushtaq Khan (24) and Asif Suhail Nadaf (22).

Haris was an Arts graduate of 2013 to 2016 batch and was pursuing MA International Studies at Jamia Milia Islamic University, Delhi and left studies to join the militancy in the end of year 2017.

Adil Thokar is the current leader of the module and efforst are being made to arrest him.

Police said the trio were arrested on Saturday from Srinagar in a joint operation with Kashmir police and were wanted in several cases including, Grenade attack at CRPF personnel wherein three security personnel were injured in Anantnag and for killing a sub-inspector of Kashmir Police.

They even killed a civilian in September this year who they believed to be a police informer, police added.

DCP (Special Cell) PS Kushwah said, the militants tried to lob a grenade at the police party in the heart of Srinagar near Tourism Reception Center but were apprehended before they could detonate the grenade.

In this operation one underground hideout frequented by ISIS inspired module members was also busted at the sprawling Apple orchard in Awantipora by Army after an overnight operation. Further over half a dozen of over ground worker (OGW) were also detained.

The police said, there are almost a dozen terrorists working in this module out of which many are either killed or arrested. It is also speculated that Ehtesham Bilal, a missing student of Sharda University, Noida, was also affiliated with this module. The special cell in September arrested two militant of ISIS-inspired module of Jammu and Kashmir near Red Fort.
