New Delhi: A team of Delhi police rescued a three-month-old baby girl, who was kidnapped by none other than her father and his paramour.

The staff of Seemapuri police station arrested the man, Shyam Babu, alias Deepak, and his lover. Police said that Deepak, a plumber, had an extrama-rital affair with a woman and often got involved in a spat with his wife.

Probe revealed that the infant had gone missing on March 23 from Kalan-der Colony, Dilshad Gard-en. To mislead the officials, Deepak approached the police station and registered a plaint saying that his wife had told him that their daughter had gone missing.

An investigation was ta-ken up and six teams were formed to trace the child. The teams were briefed to collect all the clues pertaining to the kidnap.

During the probe, sourc-es were deployed in the area to get a lead into the matter. Meanwhile, police learnt about Deepak’s involvement with the woman. It came to light that the father had an argument with her about the baby a few days ago.

The teams were assigned to investigate the angle of extramarital affair of the infant’s father.

The baby’s mother disclosed that her husband had threatened her with dire consequences. Both the complainant and the other woman were interrogated separately. The woman admitted that she and the complainant hatched a plan and kidnapped the infant so that he could continue with his affair.

She further disclosed that after kidnapping, the child was abandoned at a temple in Ghaziabad, UP. The police teams then were rushed to the said location and somehow recovered the baby.
