New Delhi: A criminal complaint was on Friday filed before a city court against Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his West Bengal counterpart Mamata Banerjee seeking an FIR against them for their recent protest against demonetisation, claiming it has created law and order problems across the country.

Metropolitan Magistrate Harvinder Singh put up for consideration on December 15 the complaint which claimed that they were  themselves facing serious allegations and "by way of protest", they were trying to provoke masses against the demonetisation, which was "aimed at strengthening India's economy".

The complaint, filed by Hyderabad resident P N Arunkumar, has sought a direction to Delhi police for filing an FIR against both politicians under several sections of Indian Penal Code, including 153 (promoting enmity between different groups on  grounds of religion, race, residence, language etc), 420 (cheating) and 468 (forgery for purpose of cheating).
