Cops seize 14,000 vehicles on border
In Central range comprising North and Central districts, 135,951 and 8,703 vehicles were inspected, respectively.

New Delhi: In a major haul, the Delhi Police, during an inspection at the border check-post in the capital, has seized more than 14,000 vehicles till mid-August this year.
As per official data, more than 14,000 vehicles were seized during inspections. While the East district notched the highest number of vehicles at 2,95,338, the North West district had seized 14,860 vehicles. In Central range comprising North and Central districts, 135,951 and 8,703 vehicles were inspected, respectively.
With more than five lakh vehicles being checked at the police pickets and during border inspections in the city, the police also arrested around 233 criminals during checking between January 1 and July 31 this year and also solved 300 criminal cases in the process.
More than 12,000 vehicles were scanned in the South Eastern range, which covers two districts: South and South East Delhi. More than 23,000 vehicles were searched in South Western Range, as per the data.
The figures also showed that Rohini, Shahdara and North East Delhi recorded 24,846 vehicle inspections. In the New Delhi Range, 1,436 vehicles were searched.
The highest number of vehicles seized was from East district —8,278. This was followed by North district with 2,364 vehicles and Shahdara with 898 vehicles. From other districts, the police seized 2,000 vehicles. In addition to liquor bottles, two-wheelers and mobile phones, the cops seized 22 firearms during checking.
