NEW DELHI: Lack of government initiative, poor planning of management and laid back attitude of shop owners is dragging down Dilli Haat in Pitampura.

Dilli Hatt, the second of its kind, is located in Pitampura in North Delhi and the second project of Delhi Transport and Tourism Development Corporation. The success of this wonderful Haat located at INA market gave encouragement to the DITDC for opening another better and bigger Dilli Haat, at Pitampura.

The Haat was expected to exhibit tribal music, cuisine, culture, craft, art and spirit of street culture. The vendors selling paper toys to handicrafts acquire sufficient space on the walkway giving a great feeling of the culture of Delhi’s street but somehow the authorities are dragging down them, said Ashok Jain, a local shopkeeper.

Despite having a 8000 sq. metre of space, good eco-friendly infrastructure and public connectivity, the Haat is unable to be in the limelight, said another shopkeeper.
