Fake Modi email sent to doc, CBI files case

In October , the agency had registered a case in which Mr Modi’s name was used by con people through a purported loan scheme.

New Delhi: In yet another instance of misusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s name, the Delhi unit of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) registered a case against unidentified persons who had sent an email using the PM’s photograph to Civil Surgeon of Ludhiana-based civil hospital to register a complaint against one doctor.

In a communiqué to CBI, P.K. Issar, Assistant Director, PMO has stated  that copies of emails were received by civil hospital in Ludhiana from an email ID viz pmoffice96@gmail.com. Using the photograph of Mr Modi, the impersonator  requested the hospital to look into a complaint filed by one Milan Sood (9814444018) with the hospital against Dr Nisha Jain regarding the medical report about his injury.

“It it clarified that no such email ID is used in this office. As such this is a clear case of impersonation as PMO official… Accordingly, CBI is requested to lodge a complaint about taking further necessary legalaction,” said the communiqué  sent to the investigating agency onAugust 31, 2017.

Following this, the agency  registered a case under section 419 (punishment for cheating by personation) of the Indian Penal code and 66 D (punishment for cheating by personation by using computer resource) of the IT Act 2000.

According to the CBI, one Milan Sood wanted  to complaint against the report of his medical loss ratio in which Dr Nisha Jain did not mention that weapon used for injuring him was sharp. He used email ID of PMO and sent the same  to the  hospital for action against Dr Nisha Jain. In October , the agency had  registered a case in which Mr Modi’s name was used by con people through a purported loan scheme.
