Delhi BJP to begin T20 cup tournament from November 28

New Delhi: Inspired from Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Khelo India’, Delhi BJP on Tuesday announced organising cricket T20 tournament, Yamuna Challenge Cricket Trophy 2017, which will be played among 280 teams from across the capital from Nov. 28.

The winner team will receive a cash prize of Rs five lakh, while the runner up team will carry home Rs 3 lakh in cash. The final match will be played at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium on Dec. 25.

According to Delhi BJP president Manoj Tiwari, the championship will be contested at mandal (ward) level in all the seven Parliamentary constituencies in the city and two teams from each constituency will reach the knock out section of the trophy.

The draws of matches were finalised on Tuesday at Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium. The presidents of district and mandal units of the BJP have been entrusted with the responsibility to select teams. For successfully organizing the tournament, Mr   Tiwari has formed a 21-member organising committee of the BJP office bearers and experts.

While giving detail of tournament, Mr Tiwari said that the team members will also participate in sanitation drives in their wards after matches

MP from West Delhi, Parvesh Verma said, “We have to utilise this tourney to identify the sports talent of our workers besides discouraging the drugs abuse among the youth. All the sportsperson should resolve to avoid the use of intoxicating things.” MP from New Delhi Meenakshi Lekhi said this tournament will bringing youth close to the BJP.
